Liberal Intolerance
Receiving Liberal Hate Mail

By Daniel Muniz

Below is a hateful comment that I recently received:

you all are kkk people of hate

When I first saw this email, I burst out in laughter.

Somehow, I don’t think that these kinds of organizations hand out white hoods to people who are Roman Catholic like me. And most importantly, I just don’t see them handing out a white robe to someone as brown as I am since I am Hispanic. I do not have a decidedly dark skin tone but I am definitely brown enough that it is almost next to impossible for anyone to mistake me as being white.

But the real absurdity is the assumption that the writers of this publication must be racists.

The person who submitted this email falls into the category of Liberals who believes that anyone who has a philosophy outside of the Democratic Party and apart from liberal ideology must be ignorant and hateful. I find this to be rather bothersome about this type of a Liberal mostly because he or she has already closed off the mind to reason and to any new ideas, which is really the hallmark of ignorance.

But sadly, I suppose that what I find most amazing is that the media of today completely ignores the inflammatory and incendiary accusations like this.

Liberals spout off such hateful comments on a frequent basis yet the press doesn’t care. Some groups of Liberals even use taxpayer dollars to annunciate their virulent messages without much scrutiny or criticism from the media as has happened in my hometown of San Antonio Texas.

However, if a Conservative has a slip of the tongue or says things in the wrong way, the press rarely misses an opportunity to pounce on that individual. And the media takes great delight in publicizing such gaffes because they can get so much more mileage off of those types of stories.

The double standard is as blatant and at it is deliberate.

It would be entirely different if I was a liberal Hispanic who wanted to talk about white oppression. I could get plenty of favorable press coverage but it doesn’t work the other way around. The media practices the concept of “man bites dog” instead of reporting the “dog bites man” type of stories. The press is not interested in stories outside of its paradigm.

Overall, the real problem I have with these types of hateful comments is the notion that Liberals believe that “only” white people subscribe to conservative values and principles. In reality, there are actually quite a few Hispanics who are Republicans although many of them are of Cuban descent. But surprisingly, a huge number of non-Cuban Hispanics voted for George W. Bush in the 2004 election. Unfortunately, for the person who relies on the press as his or her only source of information would never know that.

When I took a look at the 2004 election map to see the “red” counties of Texas, I about fell off of my chair when I saw the county where I was born listed as a “red” county. I double-checked the numbers and I was flabbergasted to discover that my birthplace really went for Bush if only by a hair. That rural South Texas county (my parents moved to the suburbs of San Antonio before I began high school) was overwhelmingly Hispanic and Democrat. In fact, there really weren’t general elections for the local offices because who ever won the Democratic primary would become the office holder.

And just as surprisingly, San Antonio Texas, with its huge Hispanic population and home of liberal activist organizations still went for George W. Bush. In other words, it wasn’t only white people who voted for the president, but a substantial number of non-Cuban Hispanics who live in urban and rural Democratic strongholds outside of Florida also voted for George W. Bush.

The media reported this shift of allegiance in the news but greatly downplayed its significance.

But downplaying this development is truly tragic. This political seismic shift is of epic proportions but the press doesn’t care. It still wants to portray conservatives as white evangelicals while ignoring the growing diversity of Republicans. And this type of omission is what perpetuates the kind of narrow minded mentality of the person who submitted this comment.

Of course, not all Liberals are this ignorant.

In fact I would say that quite a few Democrats are well aware of this emerging trend but this kind of insulation from the real news will continue to polarize the fringe elements of liberalism and close the minds of otherwise reasonable people.

The only reason they call out racist and the real reason behind so-called political correctness is to shut people up to intelligent conversation and speaking truth.

The Lib. Democrats and Mainstream media can't win an honest argument about anything because everything they stand for is fake, false and untruthful…

As a white conservative of Southern descent, I have just grown used to being labeled a racist, ironically by "people of color" (that one always gets me; what am I, transparent?) who are as racist as any redneck I've ever met. But your observation on hate mail is spot on! I receive quite a bit on my blog, which is decidedly conservative and Catholic. One recently almost caused me to just shut the blog down. I posted a picture of my father (long passed) in his Marine uniform this past Veterans Day. One moron posted, "Ha ha. ur dad died." What happens in the minds of people that would make them so hateful?

Finally, someone who gets it. This mantra from the wacky left about freedom of speech is hypocrisy at its finest. It should read:

"You have freedom of speech, as long as you agree with us. If not, we will shout you down, call you stupid and racist, and do whatever we can to get you to shut up."

Thanks for the good read.
