Not A Desperate Housewife
A Conservative Mother and Devoted Wife

National Summary had the opportunity to interview Stacy from Still Stacy (formerly known as Not A Desperate Housewife) to ask her about the web site she runs and about her insight to politics.

Still Stacy is a very well designed web site with a distinctive look and feel. Our interview covers her personal thoughts and musings of today's events and issues in a sharp crisp manner.

Web Site: Still Stacy

Q. Please give us a little bit of personal background about yourself.

I've been married to my high school sweetheart for more than 19 years. I work out of our home for my husband's business and this allows me to be around for our three sons.

Q. And also give us a background about your interest in politics.

I feel that we are at a crossroads at this point in time and those of us who are traditionalist need to fight to maintain the foundation of our nation. A progressive ideology is not healthy for our country, now or in the future.

Q. What inspired you to create your web site?

I had a friend from church [that] had started blogging and decided I wanted to give it a try myself. I felt that women in my situation needed a voice. We're here; we're just busy being good wives and mothers.

Q. What have been the biggest challenges to maintaining your web site?

The maintenance of answering comments, researching information and keeping track of where everyone is coming from is time consuming. It's important to know who is friend and who is foe.

Q. What has been the greatest satisfaction you have gotten from your web site?

The greatest satisfaction would be its growth. For a little 'ol page like mine, I get great traffic. That combined with the friendships I've made is very rewarding. It has been joyous knowing that there are many like-minded women out there. We are not all pro-choice feminist as many in the media would like everyone to believe.

Q. The 2004 presidential election has been one of the most polarized elections in recent memory. Do you think that today people are more politicized than ever before?

Perhaps. I do believe that this mostly comes from our ability to communicate in this era. We have multiple outlets to gather information from and multiple ways to communicate it to others. Before the Internet, where would I have vented my political frustration? No where, no where except my circle of friends of family.

Q. Do you think the bitterness and divisiveness in politics will recede or are things just getting ready for something bigger in 2008?

I honestly don't know. What I do know is the outright hatred and violence of the left is concerning. A second Civil War; hopefully it remains in the ballot box.

Q. The president’s approval ratings are dismal. In your honest opinion, do you think that the media has been unfairly biased against the George W. Bush?

Absolutely. But there are things all presidents should be called to task on. I have my own disagreements with the President and one cannot expect to be 100% satisfied with any leader. I gather news from many sources and its obvious how they treat him in comparison to someone like Clinton.

Q. If so (to the above question), do you think that the Democrats have gotten a free ride from the press?

Yes; but fortunately with the new media the truth does make it out.

Q. What has been your overall impression of the Bush administration?

As I stated, there are things that I am not satisfied with. If I were to issue them a grade it would be a C+. I was never 100% sold on the war in Iraq but am attempting to be optimistic about it. If a democracy can truly be established in the Middle East then that would benefit our nation down the road.

The spending, the open borders, not having OBL; these will be items in his legacy. Hopefully the successes will out-weigh them.

Q. Who do you see as being the major contenders for the 2008 Republican nomination for president?

This is a hard one for me; I feel like a kid in a candy store when it comes to Republican nominees in '08. I can't even say, there are just too many.

Q. Who do you think will be the 2008 Republican nominee?

I can't say. There are at least a dozen strong candidates that have expressed an interest in the nomination.

Q. Who do you think would be the worst 2008 Republican nominee?

Anyone from the Bush Administration.

Q. Who do you think are today’s most influential conservative female authors, columnists, or bloggers?

I would love to wash the feet of Michelle Malkin. She has set a precedent for all female bloggers in the 'sphere. Other women; Laura Ingraham and Mary Matlin stand out for me.

Q. Is there a female author or politician that has greatly inspired you?

Again, I'll have to go with Laura Ingraham for the author. Politician? Condi Rice.

Q. There are so few women in the blogosphere. What is your opinion on why there are so few?

Traditionally women have shied away from politics; that combined with women are just too busy these days makes it difficult to maintain a blog.

Q. Many segments of the media have all but declared Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee. What kind of impact do you think she will have on undecided female voters?

It gets even worse; Dick Morris has already claimed that she will be President in '08. He said that simply because she is a woman, women will vote for her. She knows this and is attempting to change her rhetoric to sound compassionate and conservative. It is going to take the best candidate the GOP can produce to defeat her.

Great interview! I've "known" Stacy for a few months (as a fellow female blogger), and this interview shows what an intelligent, caring person she is! Thanks!
