Tyler Lund's Crusade Against Liberalism

Crusade Clothing, is a new start-up business tackling the ills of liberalism with savvy shirts and other conservative products. Founder Tyler Lund promises to shake things up for liberals with his new enterprise that has just gone online. Below is an interview with Tyler Lund:

Q. Please give us a little bit of personal background about yourself.

A. I am a student of Finance in the Marriot School of Business at Brigham Young University and am also the Vice Chair of College Republicans at the University. I absolutely love politics and business. I grew up in California and absolutely hate the liberalism that has taken over the whole state. If we could only get rid of the bay area, California might have some hope. Anyways, I am also married to a beautiful woman from the bay area and we are expecting our first child on October 3rd.

Q. And also give us a background about your interest in politics.

A. Like I said earlier, I am the Vice Chair of the BYU College Republicans and I am very involved in local politics. I ran as a state delegate this past year and helped out on our gubernatorial campaign and Utah's 2nd district congressional campaign. I live and breathe Republicanism (as long as it includes fiscal conservatism).

Q. Crusade Clothing is a start-up business. What inspired you to open this business?

A. I am sick and tired of how liberalism has penetrated every aspect of our lives. Everywhere you go you see its terrible stench and the destruction it is causing America. The future of our great country is fragile when left up to the hands of those who call themselves progressive. I can't take it. I can't let liberalism spread out of control without doing something. Crusade Clothing is my answer, albeit a small answer. Through Crusade Clothing I feel that I can help people who believe the same way that I do, and help in allowing conservatives express themselves. We can't just sit back and watch America be taken over by the liberal left; we need to take a stand. Crusade Clothing is part of my stand.

Q. What do you think has been the biggest challenges to getting a start-up off the ground?

A. Marketing. Advertising is expensive and tough to do. Since I am not like the typical Republican with hordes of family wealth flowing out of my pockets I can't afford to advertise in all the right places. I, along with every other start-up, have to rely on word-of-mouth to gain our customers.

Q. What has been your greatest satisfaction now that Crusade Clothing is online and doing business?

A. I refresh my stats page to see how many people have visited Crusade Clothing every chance I get. There is a huge adrenalin rush involved in knowing there are visitors actually taking part in what you have produced. Now if only sales would follow . . .

The greatest satisfaction I receive is knowing that I am not just sitting idly by, while liberalism is quickly growing in our country. I feel like I am doing something for the good of us all. Anyone on the Internet can now go to my site and know how I, and millions other like me, feel. Our voices will be heard!

Q. Crusade Clothing is making a rather bold commitment to donate 10 percent of its proceeds to conservative causes. What inspired you to make such a daring pledge?

A. Profits are nice, but they aren't the only reason I'm doing this. Not all Republicans are cruel, hungry, money hording fiends. I want people to know that what they spend at my site is going to support good purposes. Not only do you get to wear your conservative beliefs on your sleeve, but you also have the satisfaction of knowing your hard earned money is also going to support what you believe. When you spend your money elsewhere you have no idea how the money will be used. There are companies all over the internet who will sell you what they call a "politically conservative" product, but who might then use their resources to help the Democratic Party. There is just no way of knowing. Now you can know.

Q. Please give us a brief description of the products of Crusade Clothing.

A. We currently offer some politically savvy t-shirts and hope to expand the line as our resources grow. We also offer a list of political books, magazines, and DVD's at the best prices found on the internet. And again, 10% of all proceeds received from the sale will be donated to support conservative political causes.

Q. Do you think that today people are more politicized than ever before?

A. No. People have become too complacent. We need to pick a side of every issue and fight for it.

Q. The 2004 presidential election has been one of the most polarized elections in recent memory. Do you think the bitterness and divisiveness in politics will recede or are things just getting ready for something bigger in 2008?

A. My answer is to just prepare for the fight against Hillary. America depends on our diligence against this behemoth.

Q. And finally, who do you think will be the 2008 Republican nominee?

A. My personal favorite would be Mitt Romney. I am a little biased.

Thanks for the interview,

Tyler Lund
