Holocaust Conference
An Iranian Psyop or Ignorance?

By D.W.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has often described the Holocaust as a myth, hosted a conference in Tehran to discuss whether or not the genocide of the Jewish population actually took place during World War II. 67 researchers from over 30 countries examined this controversial topic in an environment free from Western taboos that may deny an open discussion.

The irony of this conference is that many of the participants secretly wished that the Nazi’s had been more effective in their genocide but they are afraid to publicly say it.

Just about every modern nation in the world acknowledges the existence of the Holocaust, especially Russia whose troops liberated many camps. However, Russia needs to do a reality check over their support for Iran. They need to forgo their short-sighted interests of balancing the power of the United States, which is why they indirectly support our enemies. Coddling with Iran could be Russia’s undoing because Iranian nukes could easily fall into Chechen hands if the Iranians ever decide to view the Russians as infidels.

As for myself, I do not doubt the existence of the Holocaust because the historical evidence is overwhelming and it is just absurd to dismiss the valid proof.

On a personal note, my uncle was a bonafide witness to the Holocaust. He was a tail gunner on a B24 bomber that was shot down over Austria. At the end of the war when the Germans were evacuating his prison camp, he and a few other prisoners along with their German guards walked past a concentration camp lined by trenches. In the trenches were bodies in their black and white striped prisoner pajamas that had been shot execution style. He had never told that story to anyone until I asked him about his war experiences.

Now my first inclination is to think that doubting that the Holocaust ever took place is so patently absurd that only mentally handicapped people would do it.

Could Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad be so deranged as to actually deny it? Perhaps this is some type of clever ploy to scare Israel and the West which would unite anti-Semitic elements across the world? Perhaps Mahmoud is faking insanity to serve a greater strategic goal?

Under Islamic rule, Iran has a history of doing things that appear crazy but are tactically brilliant so this could be part of their plan. Iran has played its card well in the Iraq crisis and is poised to come out a winner if Congress doesn’t man up about winning the war. They have also played brilliantly in the nuclear crisis in defying the U.S. by playing Western nations off of each other to deny consensus and unity of action.

One of the consequences of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s actions has been to severely agitate Israel.

Israeli President Ehud Olmert recently acknowledged that Israel has nuclear weapons. This has been an open and unacknowledged secret for some time but Israel has never admitted it until now. Why would they play their hand like this if Iran wasn’t agitating them? Maybe Mahmoud rationalized this move for some unknown reason as part of a larger plan?

However, Mahmoud is walking a fine line with the Israelis that could end up in disaster.

The Israeli’s vividly remember the Holocaust and they are very cognizant that there are many people who would love to see their people exterminated. Needless to say, this makes them very edgy on security issues as the destruction of Israel will lead to destruction of the Jewish race. This conflict is one of sheer survival for them and they are willing to destroy an entire nation to ensure their survival.

The Israelis are probably building more nukes and attaining the means to deliver them to Iran. And coupled with their history of preemption they could very well destroy Iran in a massive pre-emptive nuclear attack. They would be justified if Iran maintains their public threats to wipe out Israel. I would hope that Mahmoud is cognizant of this reality and won’t push the issue too far; assuming that he indeed is a rational person who wants his nation to survive.

Then again, my assumption that Mahmoud is rational could be entirely incorrect and perhaps he truly is crazy.

It is one thing to assume the mantle of religious fundamentalism for political purposes and plenty of impious religious leaders do this. Osama Bin Laden is all about having other people blow themselves up in a suicide mission but he wouldn’t do it himself. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk so I would be inclined to like to believe that Mahmoud is included in this category.

But if Mahmoud is really crazy then there is nothing we can do to stop him short of military action and that would have to be massive. The U.S. does have the potential to do this but not in the near term. We certainly don’t have the political will to undertake a war with Iran either.

In the meantime, we will just have to wait for the outcome of this crazy holocaust conference.

Hopefully, Iran won’t do something to provoke anyone. The rest of the world needs to take careful notice of this country’s behavior and realize that what is happening is troubling. Perhaps the West ought to rethink their tolerance of Iran’s nuclear policies.

And those who belong to the appeasement crowd must take notice and reassess their cut and run policy.
