Illegal
Invitation
Greed of the Business Community
By Daniel Muniz
We want to bring in as much
cheap labor as humanly possible now, next year, and forever more to
fatten our wallets and we want everyone else to pick up the tab for
it. If it puts American workers out of a job, we don't care. If it
drives their wages down, so much the better, because that means we
make more money. If we have to leave the borders open and risk
another 9/11, that's fine with us. If we have to get the bill
through by demonizing as racists the very people who have staunchly
defended us on issue after issue, it doesn't bother us a bit.
...These businesses that are knowingly hiring massive numbers of
illegals are criminal enterprises, not much different from crack
dealers in my book, and not only do I want to see them getting
fined, I want to see the people running those companies doing hard
time in a federal penitentiary.
John Hawkins – Right Wing News
When the debate over illegal immigration ignited, I felt that the
battle would go nowhere. In essence, everything would stay the same
or there would be an across the board amnesty. And the reason for my
pessimism is that Republicans have always been their own worst
enemy.
With the clever use of smoke and mirrors, the wrong problems were
attacked and the wrong solutions were introduced.
The rank and file in the GOP did not want to admit that it was the
business community that invited illegal aliens by the millions to
our country. And the reason for this invitation was out of pure
greed. Conservatives have always been staunch allies of the “Chamber
of Commerce” crowd and the biggest defenders of free enterprise. The
fatal weakness of too many conservatives is the inability to accept
the concept of greed and the harsh realities that unfolded. It just
became easier to blame the illegal alien which is exactly what the
business community wanted.
But in truth, there is no invasion of illegal aliens from Mexico
although business leaders are delighted when such allegations are
made because it deflects attention from the source of the real
problem of illegal immigration.
Securing the border and enforcing our immigration laws is
desperately needed to fight illegal immigration but again, that is
wrong solution.
The problem and the solution has always been the business community.
Illegal aliens are not here to get their picture taken by the Golden
Gate Bridge or to visit the Empire State Building. They are here for
jobs and they have been invited by the multitude of companies that
are willing to give them work. For decades, these businesses have
been able to easily circumvent our immigration laws which have
allowed millions of illegal immigrants to set up shop here.
But worse, the business community has hijacked the Republican Party.
The Chamber of Commerce crowd holds tremendous influence over party
leaders and their financial contributions to GOP politicians have
made Republican officeholders arrogant and insulated from the
conservative movement.
The biggest supporters of illegal immigration do not come from the
Democratic Party but from the Republican Party. Yet, too many
conservatives have been reluctant to make war against their own
leadership because of the solid alliance that has been forged
between the Chamber of Commerce and the GOP. In addition, the
business community has also played a huge role with conservatives
attacking the wrong targets.
Greed is also a difficult premise for some conservative to accept.
Accusations of greed have always been hurled by liberals so it was
natural for conservatives to reject them. But with so many companies
hiring illegal aliens, this is an accusation that is actually true.
Money makes people do things that violate their principles and their
integrity. And the prospect of making a lot more money with cheap
labor while undermining your competitors can make people do the
wrong things. Yet, up until now, hardly any employers have been
arrested or have been sentenced to prison. Our dysfunctional
immigration laws made flouting the system rather easy so employers
took full advantage of that.
However, the cost of cheap labor is far too expensive for our
country to bear. Our health care system is bursting through the
seams with millions of illegal aliens who do not have insurance.
There are millions of uninsured motorists who do not have car
insurance who are illegal aliens. Our education system is also
burdened by educating the millions who are the children of illegal
aliens. And because so many municipalities refuse to prosecute
criminals who are illegal immigrants, these people brazenly walk our
streets looking to commit more crimes.
The list of social problems goes on and on but the business
community doesn’t care because the costs are being passed on to the
taxpayer. And worse, by living in plush luxurious neighborhoods,
they are not exposed to the problems of illegal immigration that the
rest of the nation and the common man have to face.
If conservatives want to make real progress on stopping illegal
immigration, then it is time for more influential right-wingers to
step up to the plate and start pointing the finger at the business
community.
