A Teacher's Date With A Porn Star

When Jaison Biagini won a radio contest, he thought it was the dream of a lifetime. During the "Bubba the Love Sponge" show on Sirius satellite radio he won an all expense paid trip to St. Petersburg Florida. But the highlight of the contest also included a date with a porn star.

For some men, going out with a porn actress is certainly an impossible dream.

And since Biagini is confined to a wheelchair, dating an outrageously attractive porn star that has absolutely no inhibitions about enjoying any kind of sex could very well be the event of a lifetime. And winning a contest like that is probably something not to tell a future spouse.

However, that potential marital scenario very quickly became the least of Biagini’s worries because he also happens to be a high school teacher in Monessen Pennsylvania.

But to add insult to injury, when Biagini appeared on the radio show, the DJs humiliated him by making fun of his disability. It was one thing to be trashed on the airwaves by shock jocks but it is something else to be ridiculed over something that you have absolutely no control over like having to use a wheelchair for the rest of your life.

Nevertheless, what did Biagini think was going to happen on the "Bubba the Love Sponge" radio show?

And to his dismay, the date with the porn star was also a bust. He described it as:

"All fake and staged"

But in all truthfulness, what was he really expecting?

Trash television and trash radio have one thing in common and that is trash. The maxim “if you lie down with dogs, you are going to wake up with fleas” is very relevant. Not only did Biagini get humiliated and ridiculed in front of a national audience, he didn’t even get a chance to enjoy his date.

And one thing Biagini immediately realized during the radio broadcast was what kind of impact his non-date with a porn star would have on his career as a teacher.

Needless to say, his school district wasn’t all that happy.

Now what a person does in “private” is just that – private. However, the big problem for a public servant like a teacher is that there is an expectation of higher standards for public behavior. So when that same “private” activity becomes very public, it naturally raises concern and alarm.

For years, our education system has been rocked by scandals of teachers having sex with their students as well as by exercising inappropriate behavior. It should not be of any surprise that parents and the local community expects educators to conduct themselves in a more dignified responsible manner especially since they are around their children.

An educator going out on a date is a matter of privacy that no one wants to invade but when it becomes a big radio spectacle with a porn star, then it is no longer an issue of privacy. It doesn’t take much effort to live your life in privacy but it does take effort to exercise good judgment and to make good decisions and that is where Biagini failed. The date with a porn star on a radio show is a titillating event that brings into question about how public this teacher wants to make his personal life and that is precisely the problem that people have with it.

Of course Biagini tried to present a lame excuse by claiming that the only reason he accepted the all expense paid trip of humiliation was to visit St. Petersburg for the Salvador Dali museum.

School officials didn’t buy that story and it didn’t pass the smell test.

Fortunately, Biagini spared the school district and himself from any further humiliation by resigning.

It is tragic that this teacher taught 14 years at Monessen High School but it all got flushed down the toilet by not exercising sound judgment. The local community expects their teachers to make good decisions especially because of the sex scandals that have rocked the education system.

And what is really sad is that the "Bubba the Love Sponge" radio show treated Biagini as just another buffoon that they ridiculed. For the shock jocks, their radio show goes on but Biagini lost his job and probably has forever tainted his career.
